My brother Lucas recently took a vacation to his wife's home country, the Island of Antigua. While he was there I started thinking about his children, daughter, LaKeshia, and two sons, Quincy and Xaviar. I was thinking how great it would be for them to know where the other half of their heritage was about. Visiting their mothers land would be good for them. Then I thought it would be better if they could one day have citizenship there.
Well as I was thinking it my brother was introducing his children to their grandfather which still lives on the Island. He is a big politican there and board member of an insurance company in which he make a very good living. He met his grandsons for the first time and they hit it off. Mind you that Quincy is 3 and Xavier is 1. Anyway, myh brother learned that they already have dual citizenship, one here in the U.S. and one in Antigua. I thought to myself this is wonderful.
The reason I feel this way is because that makes it that much easier for them to have access to their family there and be more aware of their heritage. Maybe even someday they can start a business there or go into politics like their grandfather. Maybe they won't grow up having so many questions about who they are like I did.
